This rather obscure rip-off (parody?) "borrows" the tune of "She Belongs To Me."
It is basically but a collection of slightly altered commonplace "floating" lines and stanzas found in countless traditional songs and performed in a very Dylanesque way (copying the original recording, harmonica, imitation of Dylan's singing).
Lyrics transcribed by Manfred Helfert.
When a man get the blues
Catch a freight train on the fly.
When a man get the blues
Catch a freight train on the fly.
But when a woman get the blues, Lord,
She'll hang her little head and cry.I eat my breakfast here,
Eat my dinner down in New Orleans.
Eat my breakfast here,
Eat my dinner down in New Orleans.
Well, I'm tired of eatin' sow belly,
Corn pone and dry beans.I am a rambler,
A rambler I'll always be.
I am a rambler,
A rambler I'll always be.
Any place I lay my hat [sic]
Is home sweet home to me.Went to Greenwich Village,
Way up in New York town.
Went to Greenwich Village,
Way up in New York town.
I met a folksinger girl,
She turned my damper down.Goodbye, Greenwich Village,
Blues has sure got me.
Goodbye, Greenwich Village,
The blues has sure got me.
Great Godamighty,
I feel like drownin' in the deep blue sea.
